We are walking through the Book of James verse by verse in an in-depth study each week. Here are the study questions from this week!
James 1:12) “Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.”
In your breakout group, discuss the following questions:
- The word ‘blessed’ means many things to many people. What do you think being blessed looks like? What does it look like from God’s viewpoint?
- How do we shift from viewing life with a natural perspective to viewing life with a Godly perspective? Why does this take so much time and effort?
- Why do you think God offers a reward, or crown, for enduring temptation?
- What is the difference between knowing the Lord and loving Him? What does it look like to love Him?
Go Do it:
This verse promises a reward of the crown of life to ‘those who love Him.’ This week, read 1 John 4:7-8 and meditate (think and consider) what it means to love Him. Then, put it into action by spending time thanking Him for who He is, worshiping Him because He deserves it, and reading His Word! As you love Him’ consider how it also gives you a different perspective on your day and the trials you encounter!
